Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
OK, so i realize that language such as "has revealed that the publisher believes" is TOTALLY different than an absolute confirmation of price, but, still. $170!
Speaking exclusively to GamesIndustry.biz, executive VP and COO of EA's worldwide studios, David Gardner, has revealed that the publisher believes the console will retail for around US $170 in North America.
In an interview to be published later this week, Gardner said: "I've heard in Japan that the price is about $170, but I don't know if the price has been set in Europe yet."
...
Nintendo has so far declined to reveal exact details of a release date or price point for the Wii. However, the company has previously confirmed that the console will retail for less than US $250, and will launch before the end of this year - with shipments estimated to total 6 million by the end of March 2007.

Not to be a party pooper, but:
QUOTE: Gizmodo is reporting bullshit about a GamesIndustry.biz article inferring some bullshit from an EA executive mentioning a rumor. I wish people would stop with this already.
Okay, here it goes, from step 1.
A Japanese analyst first recently released a report predicting that Wii would sell for about the Japanese equivalent of $170 in Japan, due to a better than expected deal Nintendo received on its hardware. Here: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/43412/
An EA executive heard about that estimate--just like the rest of us--and mentioned it in an interview with GamesIndustry.biz. He said, "I've heard in Japan that the price is about $170." He was not making any claims based on any insider knowledge, he was saying he HEARD that, he heard the same stuff the rest of us heard from the exact same report.
Somehow, GI.biz took that to mean that EA believes the console will retail for $170 IN NORTH AMERICA. What?? The EA guy never even brought up North America! He said "in Japan"!
THEN, GI.biz took it yet another step further and turned it straight into a blatantly made up headline: "Wii will retail for around $170 - EA." Nothing from that headline is correct.
p.s. sup?
i know, i know -- it seems a bit ehhhhh, which i why i mentioned the "publisher believes" part, and it's probably too good to be true, but ... but. you never know. :)
p.s. you're alive!
p.p.s. not much, wassup with you?
